Bearberry leaf tea
Bearberry (often called uva-ursi) is beneficial in treating bladder and urinary tract inflammation, kidney inflammation, sand or stones in the urinary tract, diarrhea and enlarged prostate. As an astringent, it causes shrinking of the tissue in the upper layers of the mucous membrane strengthening and tightening the irritated and inflamed tissue. Having a diuretic effect, it contributes to the elimination of microorganisms from the urinary tract. As the tea is most beneficial in alkaline urine, the best effect is achieved if a third of a teaspoon of Sodium Bicarbonate is consumed prior to tea. In this way, gastric irritation is also avoided in people who are prone to it.
